Quick answer

Agadir is the World Cup host city for a beach holiday. Enjoy the long sandy bay and promenade, the Agadir Oufella Kasbah viewpoint, Souk El Had market, and surf lessons in Taghazout and Tamraght, 20–30 minutes north.

Why visit Agadir

Rebuilt after an earthquake in 1960, Agadir is a modern, relaxed resort city with around 300 days of sunshine a year. Atlantic breezes keep summer temperatures pleasant, making it the most comfortable host city for families. The nearby Souss-Massa region adds argan forests, national-park birdlife and the walled town of Taroudant.

Top things to do in Agadir

  • Agadir beach & Corniche — a wide, safe beach with a long seafront promenade.
  • Agadir Oufella — the hilltop kasbah ruins, reached by cable car, with sweeping views of the bay.
  • Souk El Had — one of Morocco's largest markets, with thousands of stalls.
  • Taghazout & Tamraght — surf villages with schools for all levels.
  • Paradise Valley — palm-lined rock pools in the foothills of the High Atlas.
  • Souss-Massa National Park — dunes, estuaries and rare bald ibis.

Matchday in Agadir

The Grand Stade d'Agadir, also known as Adrar Stadium, is on the eastern edge of the city, around 20 minutes by taxi from the beachfront hotels. Agadir is not on the rail network: arrive by plane (direct flights from many European cities) or by CTM/Supratours coach from Marrakech.

Where to stay

Most visitors stay along the beachfront, from the marina to the Founty district's resort hotels. Surfers and younger travellers prefer guesthouses in Taghazout and Tamraght.
